Day 2: To have or not to have a sense of humor

“If fate doesn't make you laugh, you just don't get the joke.”
- Gregory David Roberts

I was going to write about something else but while talking with my friend I just remembered a story from my university times. The story is about how I failed one of my exams in the first year. Yes, I failed an exam but only once so it is not that exciting. Sorry :-)

But the point is that I failed it because of my sense of humor. It was an oral exam. So when it was my turn I entered the examination room. My professor sized me up and asked: "Your name is?" I was sure that he knew my name so I provided it in the asking way. He looked at me and said: "You are not sure what your surname is?" Then, I did it. I tried to relieve the situation and I admitted that he was right becuase in women's case you never know what their surname is becuase it changes from time to time, at least once in a lifetime.

He didn't get it and I failed.

Day 1: How Matching the dots began

Few weeks ago I was asked to give a presentation to university students. First I thought to myself: "Piece of cake". And then I realised how wrong I was. I didn't get any precise subject - I could talk about whatever I wanted and that was the most difficult part of it.  So I started to search the net to find some inspiration and I came across Steve Jobs' speech given at Strandford University. I listened to it a few times and each time I discovered something inspiring. I knew that I got it.

And this is how my connecting the dots adventure began.

The audience loved the idea and afterwards, many of my students, collegues, clients took up asking me how to connect the dots between one's private life, career, university education and passion. And this is what my blog will be about. MATCHTING THE DOTS (sorry but CONNECTING THE DOTS was unavailable:-)
